Earth Grill(e)s reimagines HVAC components as instruments for sensing, drawing, and fabricating shared atmospheres. It translates the humble domestic floor grille into inhabitable cooling devices through the construction of visual and environmental grilles assembled from off-the-shelf components, duct-like objects, and standardized insulation systems. Earth Grill(e)s proposes to “clothe” cool air, staging the ground as both climate engine and social hearth. It invites the public to gather not around fire, but around the planet’s own cool breath. In doing so, the project reframes ventilation as a collective resource rather than a privatized utility, encouraging visitors to take part in constructing air as a form of collective care for our planet earth.
